Liverpool are on high alert after a world-class player reportedly “asked to leave” his club amid growing transfer speculation.
The Reds are expected to be active in the January transfer window as they aim to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season. While Liverpool had a quiet summer, they’ve been linked with several targets this month, including Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
The Napoli winger, who has also caught the attention of Paris Saint-Germain, is reportedly open to a move. Liverpool, long-time admirers of Kvaratskhelia, have now emerged as potential suitors.
Napoli manager Antonio Conte confirmed the situation, revealing the player has requested a transfer. He said: “We’re talking about a key player. Last summer, I insisted on keeping certain players despite their requests to leave. Kvaratskhelia was one of them. I tried to convince him of the project, but unfortunately, I didn’t succeed. His departure will be a big loss for us.”
While Liverpool are in the mix, PSG currently lead the race for the 23-year-old. Reports suggest the French giants already have a verbal agreement with the player and are in direct negotiations with Napoli, exploring options including a player-plus-cash deal.
Napoli value Kvaratskhelia at £67 million, with PSG making him their top priority. Given Napoli’s acceptance of his transfer request, optimism is high that a deal could be finalized this month.
The Georgian international joined Napoli in July 2022 from Dinamo Batumi for £10 million. Since then, he has made over 100 appearances, scoring 30 goals across all competitions.
