Liverpool remain determined to sign Alexander Isak, despite Newcastle United rejecting their £110 million offer and insisting the striker is not for sale—despite his desire to leave and his ongoing solo training. Isak has publicly criticized Newcastle for “broken promises,” though the club responded by saying the conditions for a transfer haven’t been met. Manager Eddie Howe believes the situation is nearing a conclusion and hopes Isak will reintegrate with the team.
However, a new development may prompt Liverpool to explore other options.
According to Defensa Central, Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr could emerge as a £130 million alternative. While his contract runs until 2027, talks over a renewal have stalled. Real are reportedly open to the idea of selling him in 2026 if an agreement isn’t reached—though they would consider a £130 million sale as early as next summer.
The Spanish outlet suggests Vinicius might be following Kylian Mbappé’s path, potentially running down his contract to gain greater control over his future.
Though there are no solid links between Liverpool and Vinicius at this stage, the club are in the market for a marquee attacking signing and have also been linked to his Real Madrid and Brazil teammate Rodrygo Goes. Reports claim Rodrygo’s agents are currently in the UK for talks, with the player said to be enthusiastic about a possible move to Anfield. Liverpool reportedly view him as a strong candidate to replace Luis Díaz, who is being pursued by Bayern Munich. However, Rodrygo is not actively seeking a move and would also be content to remain at Real Madrid.
