Liverpool could land Alexander Isak through a potential swap deal with Newcastle United.
The Swedish striker is reportedly eager to make the move to Anfield, although Newcastle have so far resisted interest, including turning down a £110 million offer from Liverpool earlier this month.
Despite the player’s desire to leave, Newcastle are adamant about keeping Isak, who has scored 62 goals in 109 games for the club.
However, Liverpool may still have a chance by including players as part of the deal to persuade the Magpies to sell.
Newcastle have previously shown interest in Joe Gomez. The England defender revealed he nearly left Liverpool last summer when Newcastle made a £45 million bid.
“It was a genuine possibility,” Gomez said in November. “I’ve been here nearly 10 years and don’t take it for granted. Liverpool is the best club in the world for me. That interest was real, but I stayed focused on the present.”
With Liverpool closing in on teenage centre-back Giovanni Leoni from Parma and reportedly interested in Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, Gomez could be seen as expendable—and potentially appealing to Newcastle.
Harvey Elliott is another player who might be considered in a swap. According to former scout Mick Brown, Newcastle and Tottenham are both keeping tabs on the England U21 star and may explore what it would take to sign him.
