Liverpool Reportedly Submit Third Bid for Florian Wirtz
Liverpool have made a third attempt to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, according to reports. A little over a week ago, The Athletic revealed that the club had made a second offer worth up to £109 million for the 22-year-old, which was rejected by the Bundesliga runners-up. Leverkusen are said to be holding out for a figure closer to €150 million (£126.5 million).
The Premier League champions have now submitted an improved bid as they continue to pursue the highly-rated Germany international.
Liverpool’s Latest Bid Totals £113 Million
On Friday night, The Daily Mail reported that Liverpool had tabled a £113 million offer, consisting of a £100 million base fee and £13 million in potential add-ons. Negotiations are ongoing, with both clubs working to reach a compromise.
Wirtz has reportedly made his desire to join Liverpool clear, and discussions remain active as all parties try to finalize terms that satisfy everyone involved.
Although the revised offer still falls short of Leverkusen’s asking price, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano noted in a recent update on his YouTube channel that the deal is “very close” to completion, with only minor contract details left to sort out.
A Fourth Offer May Be Needed
Given that Liverpool’s third offer is only £4 million higher than the previous one, it is expected that Leverkusen may again reject it as they remain firm on their valuation. Nonetheless, there has been no indication from credible sources that the deal is at risk of collapse. Romano has reassured Liverpool fans that they can remain calm as the negotiations progress.
If Leverkusen remain unswayed, Liverpool might need to return with a higher proposal. The club’s response to the £113 million bid could help guide Liverpool’s next steps.
According to Bild, Wirtz could undergo a medical as early as next week before departing for his summer break. However, this timeline may be optimistic if the latest bid is declined and Liverpool’s recruitment chief Richard Hughes is tasked with preparing a fresh offer.
For now, the tug-of-war continues, but with optimism from both camps, fans hope a final agreement will soon be reached, paving the way for Wirtz to officially join the Reds.
