Liverpool has reportedly reached out to Real Madrid regarding the transfer status of Rodrygo Goes. The Reds have demonstrated significant ambition in the transfer market this summer and may not be done yet.
Currently, the focus is on Liverpool’s pursuit of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, according to BBC Sport and other sources, but it seems Rodrygo is also being considered. Spanish journalist Siro Lopez has mentioned Liverpool as a potential suitor for the Brazilian forward.
He stated, “The information I received on Sunday indicated that Liverpool had at least spoken with Madrid about the possibility of moving Rodrygo’s deal.” He noted, “His situation at Real Madrid is uncomfortable… they have an obligation to discuss with Liverpool and anyone else who reaches out.”
Liverpool is undergoing an impressive revamp of its attack. They have already secured Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike to enhance their attacking lineup, and Isak and Rodrygo could join as well.
Although Rodrygo hasn’t always been a consistent starter at Real Madrid, he has built a solid reputation by contributing significantly to the team’s success in recent years. Last season, he scored 16 goals and provided eight assists, and it’s likely he could achieve even better stats with more playing time.
With Luis Diaz recently transferring to Bayern Munich, Rodrygo could be a fitting replacement. Ekitike has the ability to play in that role, especially if Isak becomes the main striker under Arne Slot. Wirtz is also capable of filling in on the left flank but seems better suited for a more central position. Additionally, Cody Gakpo offers versatility, being able to play various roles in the front three.
