Liverpool have been put on high alert regarding Alexander Isak following a surprising transfer development involving Newcastle United.
Both Liverpool and Newcastle have already made summer signings and are targeting further reinforcements ahead of the upcoming season.
Liverpool broke their transfer record to bring in Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, and also secured the signing of Jeremie Frimpong. Additionally, Milos Kerkez has joined the Premier League title holders.
Meanwhile, Newcastle have added Spanish prospect Antonio Cordero and are on the verge of signing Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest in a deal worth £55 million.
Despite Newcastle qualifying for the Champions League, Isak remains at the center of persistent transfer rumors.
Liverpool are reportedly considering a major move for the Swedish striker and have been given the go-ahead to pursue the transfer.
Isak isn’t the only striker in the spotlight, as Hugo Ekitike is also drawing attention from several clubs, including Newcastle.
According to RMC Sports, the 23-year-old is on the radar of three clubs capable of meeting his valuation, including Newcastle, and Saudi sides Al Qadsiah and Al Hilal, who have already contacted his representatives.
However, Ekitike reportedly prefers to remain in Europe for now. He is valued at a hefty €100 million (£86 million), which would break Newcastle’s transfer record.
In a separate update, Fabrizio Romano confirmed Newcastle’s interest in Ekitike.
Ekitike, formerly with Paris Saint-Germain, had an impressive season at Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring 22 goals in 48 games across all competitions. He developed through Reims’ academy before moving to Frankfurt, who made his loan from PSG permanent for €16.5 million (£14.2 million).
