A photo showing Marmoush being assisted off the pitch by medical staff was shared on the Egyptian Football Association’s X account (via BBC Sport) with the update: “Omar Marmoush suffers a bruised knee ligament. The player will have an X-ray upon his return to Cairo on Wednesday morning.”

The forward, who lined up alongside Liverpool’s Mo Salah for Egypt, picked up a leg injury early in the game following a challenge. Though he tried to continue, he was substituted soon after, leaving Pep Guardiola with potential concerns ahead of the new season.
Any doubts over City’s attacking options are significant for Liverpool. While City’s squad depth remains strong, Marmoush’s absence could give Liverpool a slight advantage in what is expected to be a tight title race.
