Liverpool fans are thrilled by a young player’s standout display against Barcelona while on loan.
On Saturday, Barcelona traveled to Gran Canaria for their La Liga clash with Las Palmas. Goals from Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres secured a 2-0 win for Hansi Flick’s side, putting them one point ahead of Atletico Madrid at the top of the table.
Despite Barcelona’s star-studded lineup, Liverpool supporters focused on 20-year-old midfielder Stefan Bajcetic, who started for Las Palmas. On loan from the Premier League leaders, Bajcetic had previously been at RB Salzburg before his stint was cut short in January, leading to his temporary move to Spain.
Since joining Las Palmas, he has made four appearances under Diego Martinez, with Saturday’s match arguably his best yet. Liverpool fans took to social media to share their excitement.
One fan noted Bajcetic’s more advanced role compared to his time at Liverpool and Salzburg, saying he was Las Palmas’ standout performer. Another highlighted his ability in tight spaces, growing physicality, and strong mentality—qualities Liverpool could benefit from.
A third fan praised his progress, calling his loan move to Spain ideal for his development, while another described his performance as “incredible,” questioning why Liverpool didn’t recall him.
Las Palmas will next play Real Valladolid on Friday, February 28.
