Liverpool fans run out of patience with one player despite FA Cup win against Accrington Stanley

Liverpool fans were left frustrated with one player’s performance during their match against Accrington Stanley.

On Saturday, the Reds hosted the League Two side at Anfield to begin their FA Cup campaign. Manager Arne Slot made several changes to the lineup, but key players like Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Diogo Jota were included in the starting XI.

Liverpool controlled the game early on, with Jota opening the scoring in the 29th minute and Alexander-Arnold doubling the lead with a stunning strike just before halftime.

In the second half, Accrington Stanley showed improvement, with Josh Woods hitting the woodwork. However, substitute Jayden Danns secured Liverpool’s victory with a close-range finish in the 76th minute, and Federico Chiesa added a fourth goal late on.

Despite the convincing win, Darwin Nunez’s performance drew criticism from fans on social media.

One fan commented, “Darwin Nunez isn’t good enough for this team,” while another wrote, “He can’t even control the ball against a League Two side.” Others described him as “average” and “unimpressive,” with one remarking, “At this point, Nunez just makes me laugh.”

During the first half, supporters noticed Harvey Elliott’s frustration with Nunez for failing to pass to him when he was in a good position. One fan tweeted, “Nunez shoots with three defenders in front of him, ignoring Elliott, who’s wide open. Elliott was fuming, and rightly so.”

Despite the criticism, Nunez did manage to assist Jota’s opener.

Liverpool now turn their attention back to the Premier League, where they will face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Tuesday night.
