Trent Alexander-Arnold departed Liverpool for Real Madrid last month, but his brother continues to stir up frustration among Reds fans.
The 26-year-old allowed his Liverpool contract to expire and opted not to extend his stay at the club where he came through the ranks, ending his time there with a second Premier League title. Although Real Madrid paid £8.4 million to secure him in time for the Club World Cup—ensuring Liverpool received a fee—many fans were left disappointed by the way he left.
Since joining Real, Alexander-Arnold has featured in every match and recently notched his first assist in a 1-0 victory over Juventus, helping Xabi Alonso’s team reach the quarter-finals.
So, why are Liverpool fans upset with his brother?
Tyler Alexander-Arnold, who is also Trent’s agent, has drawn criticism after reports surfaced that one of Liverpool’s rising stars is set to depart the club. Sixteen-year-old Isaac Moran, a promising midfielder and youth captain for both Liverpool and England, signed earlier this year with PLG—the agency Tyler heads.
The agency welcomed Moran on social media, praising his leadership and talent. However, according to Craig Hope of the Daily Mail, Moran has turned down a scholarship offer from Liverpool and is expected to join Newcastle—a move being described as a major win for the Carabao Cup holders.
Despite being just 16, Moran has already played for Liverpool’s Under-18 team and is considered a top prospect. The news has sparked backlash online, with one fan posting on X: “Another Trent’s brother agency client gone!” Others echoed the sentiment, blaming the agency and expressing frustration with its involvement.
PLG also represents current and former Liverpool players, including Jordan Henderson, Nat Phillips, and Andy Robertson.
Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold faces ongoing scrutiny from some Spanish media over his defensive capabilities. His next test with Real Madrid is a high-profile clash against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League quarter-finals. That match won’t feature a Bellingham brothers reunion, as Jude’s brother Jobe is suspended after accumulating too many yellow cards.
