Liverpool fans criticize Jordan Henderson after a video with Dan Burn from the England camp surfaces.

Liverpool fans have criticized Jordan Henderson after a video surfaced of him interacting with Dan Burn in the England camp.

Burn joined the national team for the first time after scoring in Newcastle United’s 2-1 victory over Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final last Sunday. His unexpected call-up came ahead of England’s World Cup qualifiers later this month, with former Liverpool captain Henderson also making Thomas Tuchel’s first squad since taking charge.

On Monday, players arrived at St. George’s Park for training, with an under-21 player joining the senior squad. During their session, highlights of Newcastle’s Carabao Cup win were shown on a big screen, including Burn’s goal that put his team ahead.

Burn watched the replay alongside Henderson, who was seen laughing and joking with him. This interaction didn’t sit well with Liverpool supporters, given Henderson’s long history with the club.

One fan on X commented: “It’s not that serious, but seeing a former Liverpool captain and Sunderland fan laughing with a Newcastle player who just beat Liverpool is kinda wild if you think about it.”

Another simply asked: “Something funny, Hendo?”

A third added: “He used to be our captain, by the way.”

Henderson spent 12 years at Liverpool, winning both the Premier League and Champions League. He left for Saudi Arabia in the summer of 2023 before returning to Europe with Ajax.

His performances earned him a recall under Tuchel, who praised his leadership and experience.

“Jordan is a serial winner,” Tuchel said. “He’s the captain of Ajax and brings leadership, energy, and personality to every team. He ensures everyone upholds high standards and embodies what we want to build.”

Tuchel also shared details of their first conversation: “I called him a few weeks ago to introduce myself and see how he felt about this opportunity. It was a video call so I could see his reactions. His joy and humility were very impressive.”
