Liverpool fans were left stunned after noticing an unexpected item being sold by the club ahead of the 2025 Carabao Cup final.
Following their dominant 4-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the semi-final’s second leg, Liverpool secured their place at Wembley, where they will defend their title later this month. Their opponents, Newcastle United, who also won 4-0 on aggregate against Arsenal, are aiming to claim their first major trophy in 70 years after falling short against Manchester United in 2023.
In preparation for the final, Liverpool unveiled exclusive merchandise, but one particular item caught fans off guard. Football supporters have long criticized half-and-half scarves, but Liverpool seemed to take things even further.
A social media post revealed that the club’s website was selling a grey t-shirt featuring a red half with the Liverpool badge and a black-and-white striped half with Newcastle’s crest, along with match details. Although the t-shirt has since been removed from sale, fans were quick to share their thoughts online.
One fan sarcastically remarked: “Love half-and-half scarves? Want to take it further? Liverpool have you covered.” Another questioned the decision, saying: “Someone actually approved this?”
A third fan compared it to the widely disliked scarves, stating: “This is just as bad! Why is Liverpool selling merch with another club’s badge on it?” Another joked: “Forget the half-and-half debate—how did this disaster even make it to the official store? Looks like a 12-year-old’s Microsoft Paint edit.”
The Carabao Cup final will take place in London on March 16 at 16:30, with Liverpool favored to retain the trophy.
