Liverpool have reportedly contacted Real Madrid to inquire about the availability of Rodrygo Goes in the transfer market.
The Reds have already made bold moves this summer and may not be done yet.
While their primary focus currently appears to be Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, according to BBC Sport and others, Rodrygo has also emerged as a potential target.
Spanish journalist Siro Lopez revealed that Liverpool are among the clubs showing interest in the Brazilian winger. “The information I received on Sunday is that Liverpool have at least spoken to Madrid to ask what kind of offer might be needed for Rodrygo,” he said. He also noted that Rodrygo’s position at Madrid is somewhat uncertain, making it necessary for the club to be open to discussions with any interested parties, including Liverpool.
Liverpool’s Ongoing Attacking Overhaul
Liverpool have already added Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike to strengthen their frontline, and they could still bring in both Isak and Rodrygo before the window closes.
Although Rodrygo hasn’t always been a guaranteed starter at Real Madrid, he’s consistently contributed to their successes. Last season, the 24-year-old scored 16 goals and registered 8 assists, and those numbers could improve with more regular minutes.
Following Luis Diaz’s recent transfer to Bayern Munich, Rodrygo could be seen as a strong candidate to fill the vacancy on the wing.
Ekitike is another option for that role if Isak arrives to lead the line under Arne Slot. Wirtz could cover the left as well, though he’s generally more effective centrally. Cody Gakpo also offers flexibility across the front three.
