Liverpool appear ready to push through several defensive additions this week, starting with the finalization of Milos Kerkez’s £40 million transfer from Bournemouth on Monday.

This follows completed signings of Jeremie Frimpong (Bayer Leverkusen), Armin Pecsi (Puskas Akademia), and Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkusen), as new head coach Arne Slot continues reshaping the squad. The club is also believed to be targeting reinforcements at centre-back and striker.

Kerkez to become fourth senior arrival

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Kerkez is on the verge of becoming Liverpool’s fourth major signing of the summer. The move is part of a wider revamp at fullback, following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s free transfer to Real Madrid ahead of the Club World Cup.

Andy Robertson is also reportedly weighing his options, with La Liga side Atletico Madrid showing interest—potentially giving Kostas Tsimikas a renewed chance at Anfield if Robertson moves on.

Marc Guehi a potential fifth addition

With Jarell Quansah departing and Nathaniel Phillips also expected to leave, Liverpool may have extra funds to strengthen at centre-back. Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi (24) has emerged as a top target, with reports from Valentin Furlan and Rudy Galetti suggesting Liverpool are close to a verbal agreement on personal terms.

However, whether the club will meet Palace’s £45 million valuation remains uncertain. As The Times’ Paul Joyce noted, Liverpool’s willingness to meet that price may depend on Guehi’s contract status, with a potential free transfer next summer also in the picture.
