Lewis Koumas has officially joined Birmingham City.
The 19-year-old academy prospect completed a medical with the Championship club ahead of a season-long loan deal.
Koumas has made one senior appearance for Liverpool—a 3-0 FA Cup win against Southampton during the 2023/24 season.
He has also earned six caps for the Wales national team.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed Koumas’ loan move on Friday morning via X (formerly Twitter), with Birmingham City’s website later verifying the transfer after Championship football resumed.
Speaking to Birmingham City’s official site, Koumas expressed his excitement about joining: “Just how big of a club this is, how passionate the fans are, the project I’ve heard about, and after talking with the gaffer, there was no doubt—I was coming to Birmingham.”
Birmingham City recently returned to the Championship after a one-season spell in League One, where they finished top with 111 points last season.

Currently, Birmingham sits sixth in the league with four points from their first two matches.
How did Koumas perform at Stoke City in 2024/25?
Koumas spent last season on loan at Stoke City while Liverpool won the Premier League under Arne Slot in his first year in charge.
The 19-year-old (turning 20 this September) contributed nine goals and assists (six goals, three assists) across 49 appearances in all competitions.
