Liverpool approve medical after ‘deal finalized’ this summer

Lewis Koumas Officially Joins Birmingham City on Loan

Lewis Koumas has officially joined Birmingham City, completing a season-long loan move from Liverpool. The 19-year-old attacker successfully passed a medical with the Championship side ahead of the deal.

Koumas made his senior debut for Liverpool during a 3-0 FA Cup win over Southampton in the 2023/24 season. Internationally, he has earned six caps for the Wales national team.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano broke the news on Friday morning via X (formerly Twitter), with Birmingham City later confirming the move on their official website.

Speaking to the club, Koumas expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Blues:
“Just how big of a club this is, how passionate the fans are, the project that I’ve heard about and after speaking to the gaffer, there was no other way about it – I was coming to Birmingham.”

Following a brief return to League One, Birmingham City are back in the Championship after a dominant campaign that saw them finish with 111 points. The team currently sits sixth in the table with four points from their first two games, as they aim to return to the Premier League for the first time since 2011 under manager Paul Davies.

Last season, Koumas spent time on loan at Stoke City, where he made 49 appearances across all competitions, contributing six goals and three assists. The versatile forward, who turns 20 in September, was deployed in a variety of roles — playing in seven different positions, including both wings, central attack, and midfield.

We wish Lewis all the best as he begins this new chapter and contributes to Birmingham’s promotion ambitions.
