Leandro Trossard could leave Arsenal this summer if the club secures a suitable replacement, amid interest from Saudi Pro League clubs.
According to former Manchester United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown—who remains well-connected in football—Mikel Arteta will ultimately decide the 30-year-old’s future, as he exclusively told Football Insider.
With Trossard’s contract set to enter its final 12 months in June, Arsenal may look to sell him in the summer to generate funds. Football Insider previously reported that Al-Ittihad submitted a £30 million bid for the Belgian winger after last summer’s English transfer window had closed.
Saudi Pro League clubs remain keen on signing Trossard, and Arsenal are now open to his departure if a suitable offer comes in. However, concerns over squad depth mean any outgoing players must be replaced in the transfer market.
This is particularly crucial for Trossard, given Arsenal’s limited options on the wings—a position that has become a key priority for the club ahead of next season.
Arteta to Decide on Trossard’s Future
On March 4, Football Insider reported that Arsenal are targeting Wolves forward Matheus Cunha despite his recent disciplinary issues.
Mick Brown, who has extensive experience in top-level recruitment, emphasized that Arsenal’s ability to find a replacement will determine whether Arteta approves Trossard’s sale.
“He only has 12 months left on his contract,” Brown told Football Insider. “Selling him this summer could be their last chance to cash in.
“If Saudi clubs are willing to offer the kind of money they’ve spent on other players, I think he’ll leave Arsenal.
“But it all depends on whether Arteta sees him as a regular starter. He’s more of a squad player who can make an impact when needed but isn’t a guaranteed starter every week.
“It looks like Arsenal feel he’s replaceable, but with Sterling also expected to leave, they’ll be short on wide players—a position that has already caused them problems this season.
“So, while Arsenal may be prepared to let Trossard go, they must first secure a replacement before Arteta decides whether they can afford to sell him. Strengthening the wide areas will be a priority this summer.”
