Jurgen Klopp may still influence Liverpool’s transfer plans despite departing the club at the end of last season.
The 57-year-old left Liverpool after the 2023/24 campaign, having won eight trophies, including the 2019/20 Premier League title and the Champions League the previous season.
Since then, Klopp has taken on a new role as Red Bull’s Head of Global Soccer, overseeing clubs such as RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig. This position could play a key role in shaping a potential transfer this summer.
According to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Klopp is eager to bring Real Madrid’s Arda Guler to RB Leipzig, even as Liverpool reportedly expresses interest in the Turkish international.
Guler, 20, joined Madrid in July 2023 and gained recognition with standout performances at the Euros. However, injuries have limited his impact this season, with just three goals in 31 appearances under Carlo Ancelotti.
Ancelotti, 65, recently praised Guler’s talent after his strong display in Madrid’s 3-2 win over Leganes, highlighting his vision and technical ability. However, it remains uncertain whether Madrid is willing to part with him, given his long-term contract until 2029 and a current market value of €45m (£37.6m), according to Transfermarkt.
During the winter transfer window, there were discussions about a possible loan move to aid Guler’s development, though nothing materialized. Recently, reports from Spanish outlet Cadena SER have linked him with a potential loan to Bournemouth, which could facilitate a deal for Cherries defender Dean Huijsen to join Madrid.
