Journalist explains why Marc Guehi ignored Oliver Glasner despite Liverpool’s interest.

Marc Guehi’s awkward encounter with Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner became one of the main talking points during the opening weekend of Premier League action.

The Palace captain, who has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool, seemed to ignore Glasner after the 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge when the manager asked him to go to the away fans.

Many were puzzled as to why Guehi appeared to snub Glasner by walking straight down the tunnel, looking upset.

However, this incident fueled speculation that Guehi might still be set to join Liverpool before the transfer window closes. On Monday evening, reporter Bobby Manzi from the News Shopper clarified the situation.

It turns out the former Chelsea academy graduate was actually heading back to the dressing room for a routine doping test after the match.

Such tests are random, with players occasionally asked to give blood or urine samples following games.

Manzi emphasized that Guehi had already acknowledged the traveling Palace supporters before going down the tunnel, and there’s no indication that his relationship with Glasner has deteriorated.
