Jamie Carragher receives a surprise phone call live on air, leaving the entire CBS panel shocked.

Jamie Carragher received an unexpected phone call while live on CBS Sports, surprising both his co-hosts and the audience.

During coverage of the Champions League quarter-final first leg matches on Wednesday, Carragher was joined by Thierry Henry, Micah Richards, and host Kate Scott. Midway through a segment, his phone rang, and he hurried to answer it.

This wasn’t the first time Carragher had been interrupted by a call on-air—previously, former Preston North End manager Ryan Lowe called him while he was recording The Overlap’s Stick to Football podcast. However, this time, it was his daughter, Mia, looking for her mother, Nicola.

Carragher responded, “She wants to know where her mum is. I don’t know. I’m in London, babe, in the studio. I don’t know. Do you want to go on loudspeaker live on CBS?”

What followed was 90 seconds of lively chaos as Richards and Scott eagerly joined the conversation. Mia didn’t answer when Richards jokingly asked whether her father favored her or her brother James, a Wigan Athletic and Malta national team player. However, she did chime in when asked what Carragher was like at home, saying, “He’s lovely. Now and again [you shout at me].”

Richards then playfully asked Carragher to apologize to the camera. Carragher responded, “You’ve just heard Mia Carragher live on air. That’s a moment. She’ll be winning awards in the future—she won’t just be nominated!”

The exchange also came after the news that Kate Scott had been nominated for the Outstanding Personality/Studio Host award at this year’s Sports Emmys. Competing against TNT’s Ernie Johnson, NBC’s Mike Tirico, ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt, and NFL Network’s Scott Hanson, her nomination was announced on Tuesday’s CBS show, with Richards enthusiastically congratulating her, saying, “We have a nominee for an Emmy! Take it away, Kate.”
