Jamie Carragher has publicly apologized after facing backlash for a comment he made following the match between Hannibal and Liverpool. Many people found his remarks offensive, calling them “disgusting.”
In a statement, the former Liverpool player admitted his words were inappropriate and said he was sorry for any offense caused:

Carragher added that he should have known better, especially as a public figure, and promised to be more careful with his language in the future. He also mentioned plans to personally apologize to those affected and said he would accept any consequences from his employer.
The club involved responded by accepting the apology but emphasized the importance of respectful commentary. Meanwhile, Liverpool FC reiterated its stance on professionalism and respect.
Sky Sports (or the relevant broadcaster) is reportedly reviewing the situation to decide if further action is needed.
Carragher ended his statement by saying he hopes people will see his efforts to make amends and learn from the incident.
