Jarell Quansah commended Liverpool’s resilience and determination after their 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.
Arne Slot’s team had to work hard for the three points at Anfield, despite establishing a two-goal lead in the first half. Goals from Luis Diaz and a Mohamed Salah penalty gave the Reds control before the break.
However, Matheus Cunha’s goal in the 67th minute shifted the momentum, forcing Liverpool to showcase their defensive strength to secure the victory. Quansah came off the bench at the start of the second half to help see out the win.
On the victory:
“It was a tough battle. They gave everything, and it was one of those games where mentality is key. It wasn’t always pretty, but grinding out wins like this is important when chasing points.”
On leading 2-0 at halftime:
“Our goal was to start strong, and we managed that well in the first half. Conceding was disappointing, and from then on, the momentum was with them. But we handled it well, and the substitutes played a crucial role. Football is a squad game—you need everyone.”
On coming on at halftime:
“Ibou [Konate] made a challenge, and I was told to be ready. As a substitute, you always have to be prepared, and I’m grateful I could contribute.”
On Wolves gaining momentum in the second half:
“I’ll need to reflect on the game, but after their goal, the momentum shifted. At times, it’s difficult to press aggressively when protecting a lead. We had to defend deep, and it worked.”
