‘Imminent Update…’ – Sky Reporter Provides Overnight News on Florian Wirtz Amid Growing Liverpool Interest

Posted on May 24, 2025 By Dailynewsupdate No Comments on ‘Imminent Update…’ – Sky Reporter Provides Overnight News on Florian Wirtz Amid Growing Liverpool Interest

Liverpool seem to have made major strides in their pursuit of Florian Wirtz over the last 24 hours.

Multiple reliable journalists shared major updates on Friday. Both Fabrizio Romano and Paul Joyce reported that Liverpool have made a formal approach to Bayer Leverkusen for the 22-year-old star, while David Ornstein of The Athletic confirmed that negotiations between the two clubs are underway.

Bundesliga expert Christian Falk added that Wirtz has already started searching for a home in the Merseyside area, with Bayern Munich reportedly caught off guard, as they were not ready to match a fee that could reach €150m (£126m).

Sky reporter delivers promising Wirtz update
In the early hours of Saturday, Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg posted an encouraging update on X, suggesting that Wirtz’s move to Liverpool is on the verge of completion.

He wrote: “LFC received final confirmation from Florian Wirtz [on Friday], following the collapse of a potential move to Bayern. Liverpool are set to submit an official bid to Leverkusen, and an agreement between both clubs is expected soon.

“[Jeremie] Frimpong has completed his medical and signed his deal, though the announcement will be delayed due to certain reasons. Wirtz and Frimpong are both on their way to Liverpool. Arne Slot was determined to secure their signings.”

A potential blockbuster double signing
With Frimpong’s deal essentially done, Liverpool appear close to confirming both him and Wirtz together, a sensational double swoop from Bayer Leverkusen.

Ornstein reports that Wirtz is keen on a move to Anfield, and his transfer would break Liverpool’s transfer record and make him the most expensive German player in history, likely exceeding £100 million.

With only two first-team signings since the start of 2024, for sporting director Richard Hughes to lock in both Frimpong and Wirtz before the summer window officially opens would be a masterstroke.

While fans have learned from past experiences not to celebrate too early, the growing number of credible reports pointing to Wirtz’s imminent arrival has justifiably sparked excitement.

Liverpool’s recent message has been loud and clear: they’re not planning to give up their Premier League crown easily—and any challengers next season will have their work cut out.
