New Liverpool signings Hugo Ekitike and Milos Kerkez have praised one of their teammates as the “fastest player in the world.” Both players joined Anfield this summer during a landmark transfer window, where Liverpool aimed to strengthen their squad following last season’s Premier League triumph.
They were joined by record British signings Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, while Jeremie Frimpong was brought in as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s replacement after the latter’s transfer to Real Madrid ahead of the Club World Cup. Although it seemed Marc Guehi might also arrive on deadline day, Crystal Palace unexpectedly blocked the move at the last moment.
Among the confirmed signings, Kerkez and Ekitike—who have both made strong starts at Anfield—highlighted one teammate as the quickest player on the planet, adding a new element of speed to Arne Slot’s squad that was missing last season.
Jeremie Frimpong: The “Fastest Player in the World” According to His Teammates
Last season featured speedy players like Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah, but those training at the AXA facility have been especially impressed by Frimpong’s pace. Liverpool triggered his £29.5 million release clause back in May, before the transfer window officially opened.
When asked by EASFC Mobile on Instagram who the fastest Liverpool player is, Ekitike and Kerkez answered immediately. “Jeremie, every day,” said Ekitike. “Too fast, too quick,” added Kerkez. Ekitike, who has already netted three goals at Liverpool, concluded: “I think he’s the fastest in the world.”
Frimpong is a very different type of full-back compared to Trent Alexander-Arnold. He offers explosive runs down the wing, contrasting Trent’s more measured and precise style, who preferred picking his moments rather than constantly pushing forward.
Moreover, with 14 goals and 12 assists over the past two Bundesliga seasons, Frimpong is a strong attacking threat. He is even considered a potential backup for Salah during the Egyptian star’s AFCON absence in January.
Alongside Ekitike and Kerkez, Giorgi Mamardashvili took part in deciding which Liverpool player deserves a rating boost in the EAFC game. When asked who has the best football intelligence on the team, they unanimously agreed on Alexis Mac Allister.
