Liverpool Eye More Attacking Signings as Summer Spending Continues
Liverpool are planning to further bolster their attacking options this summer, even after already securing deals for Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, and Milos Kerkez—the latter yet to be officially announced, though the move is nearing completion.
New head coach Arne Slot remains open to strengthening the squad, particularly in wide positions, where depth and quality are still desired. One player now on Liverpool’s radar is Malick Fofana, a promising young winger from Lyon, according to Sky Sports Switzerland.
Fofana, just 20 years old, had an impressive season in France, scoring 11 goals and registering six assists. His performances have caught the attention of top European clubs, and with Lyon in financial turmoil, a transfer could be imminent.
Once a powerhouse in Ligue 1, Lyon’s dramatic decline has seen them relegated to France’s second division following a failure to meet financial regulations set by the DNCG, French football’s financial watchdog. This has left many of their players, including Fofana, with uncertain futures.
Liverpool could take advantage of the situation, with Fofana reportedly eager to join the Merseyside club. His former agents, BF SportsPartner, revealed to The Mirror:
> “His dream move would be to Liverpool. He’s ready to join the rotation and could follow in the footsteps of African icons like Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and El-Hadji Diouf. He’s got the tools to thrive in the Premier League.”
> “His style is similar to Amad Diallo—quick, impactful, and capable of creating chances.”
With Lyon needing to sell to stabilize financially, Liverpool might be able to secure Fofana at a reduced price. His ability to beat defenders and score from the flanks makes him a strong fit for Arne Slot’s plans.
To fund a potential big-money move for their top target, Liverpool may look to offload up to five players this summer.
