Fans noticed a significant mistake in Liverpool’s announcement following Alexander Isak’s transfer from Newcastle United.
At last, 25-year-old Isak has officially joined Liverpool after a long and tense summer transfer saga. During this time, the Swedish international was left out of Newcastle’s pre-season tour in Asia and missed three Premier League games against Aston Villa, Liverpool, and Leeds United.
What began as a positive relationship between Isak and Newcastle fans—boosted by his Carabao Cup final performance—turned sour once it became clear he wanted to leave the club. Despite ongoing rumors about his future, Newcastle insisted all summer that Isak was not for sale.
In August, Isak spoke out on Instagram, stating that promises had been made and the club was aware of his stance for some time. “When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can’t continue,” he said.
Newcastle, however, stood firm, responding that no official club representative had promised Isak could leave this summer.
Yet, on transfer deadline day, Isak completed a record-breaking £125 million move from Newcastle to Liverpool, signing a six-year deal at Anfield.
Liverpool announced the transfer on their social media and website at 9:30 pm on Monday.
“I feel amazing,” Isak told LFC.com. “It’s been a long road to get here, but I’m very happy to join this team, this club, and everything it represents. I’m proud and excited to be part of it. I’m glad it’s finalized and I can get back to work. I look forward to meeting my teammates and the fans and playing again.”
Despite the excitement around the signing, fans spotted a typo in Liverpool’s announcement.
At 10:10 pm, the club posted a graphic on social media showing Isak’s career details, including his goals, age, nationality, and position—but the word “position” was misspelled as “postion.”
Fans quickly reacted online.
One wrote, “The biggest signing in Premier League history but they can’t even spell ‘position.’”
Another said, “That’s a really poorly made graphic, isn’t it?”
A third commented, “I don’t mind the typo, but I’m confused why his position is listed as ‘FOR.’ Winger and second striker are forwards too, but it should be CF (center forward).”
