Fabrizio Romano gives his famous “here we go” confirmation to Tottenham’s first signing of the winter transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur are still eager to sign Santos full-back Souza during the winter transfer window. The 19-year-old, who has an £80 million release clause, was expected to be available for less than half that amount in January and has drawn interest from both Spurs and Chelsea.

Tottenham, however, moved ahead with official offers for the defender, with Santos recently rejecting an initial £8 million bid. Reports later suggested Spurs were preparing an improved proposal worth around £13 million including add-ons, as they remained determined to complete the deal.

New updates from Fabrizio Romano now indicate that Tottenham have reached an agreement with Santos for Souza. The two clubs have reportedly settled on a €15 million transfer fee for the Brazilian left-back.

Souza is expected to travel to London on Sunday to finalise the move and undergo a medical at Hotspur Way.

Romano wrote on X:
“Tottenham, here we go! Deal in place for €15m fee as verbal agreement has been reached. Travel scheduled on Sunday after deal agreed with agency Bertolucci Sports and Santos accepting payment terms. Documents to be exchanged this weekend then all sealed.”

With the fee now agreed, the transfer is close to completion, pending the player’s medical. Tottenham had already settled personal terms with Souza before reaching an agreement with Santos, and the deal would make him Spurs’ first signing of the winter transfer window.
