Erling Haaland’s Dad Takes a Swipe at Arsenal After Man City’s Heavy Defeat
Erling Haaland’s father, Alfie Haaland, took to social media to throw shade at Arsenal following their dominant 5-1 win over Manchester City.
Arsenal closed the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool with a commanding victory at the Emirates on Sunday. Martin Ødegaard opened the scoring, but Haaland equalized in the second half. However, the Gunners responded emphatically, netting four unanswered goals through Thomas Partey, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Kai Havertz, and Ethan Nwaneri.
After the match, Arsenal took a dig at Haaland, who had a notable reaction. During the game, Lewis-Skelly mimicked Haaland’s signature celebration after scoring, a moment Arsenal later posted online with the caption: “THIS TEAM.”
In response, Alfie Haaland fired back on X, sarcastically writing: “‘This Team’ that wins everything. Ehhhhh, not.”
Despite Arteta’s efforts over the past two seasons, Arsenal has yet to secure a Premier League title, finishing second to Man City in consecutive campaigns. While City has dominated the league with four consecutive titles, a fifth now seems unlikely as they trail Liverpool by 15 points.
Following the defeat, Pep Guardiola admitted his team had made costly mistakes but praised their response, saying: “We reacted really well, played with personality, defended well, and were a real threat with the ball.”
Man City will look to bounce back next Saturday when they continue their FA Cup journey against Leyton Orient.
