Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has delivered a significant update on Alexander Isak’s future, admitting the club may not be in full control of what comes next for the striker.
Speaking during a pre-season press conference in Seoul, Howe acknowledged that although Isak is under contract until 2028, serious interest from Liverpool has made the situation more complex for Newcastle.
While Howe expressed his desire to keep the Swedish forward, he admitted that Isak’s growing intention to leave could ultimately influence the outcome.

“He’s still our player and remains under contract… To some extent, we control what happens,” Howe said, as quoted by Sky Sports. “But it’s not entirely in my hands,” he added, hinting at potential developments beyond the club’s control.
Liverpool are reportedly preparing a bid of around £120 million, which could break Newcastle’s transfer record. This comes shortly after Liverpool finalized the sale of Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich and are now targeting Isak as a marquee signing.
Reports from Sky Sports Switzerland indicate that Isak is eager to join the Merseyside club and has already agreed to personal terms.
