The Hungarian midfielder was visibly frustrated, expecting a goal after delivering the perfect pass past goalkeeper Emi Martinez.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot acknowledged that the missed opportunity weighed heavily on Nunez’s mind. Speaking to TNT Sports, he noted that the Reds had done enough to secure the win and referenced recent matches where they struggled against defensive opponents. Slot also hinted that Nunez was particularly down after the game, given the missed chance.
Captain Virgil van Dijk echoed the disappointment, admitting that Liverpool should have taken the lead in the second half. He praised the team’s effort but acknowledged the difficulty of breaking down Aston Villa’s defense. Despite the setback, Van Dijk emphasized the importance of focusing on their upcoming fixtures against Manchester City and Newcastle.
