Didi Hamann: ‘Darwin Núñez Could Have Been Arsenal’s Game-Changer’
Former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann believes Darwin Núñez would have been a perfect fit for Arsenal, especially given their current injury struggles and shortage of strikers.
Hamann noted that while Arsenal is a strong side, their lack of a true center-forward weakens their title prospects.
“The team is well-balanced, but missing a proper striker is their biggest weakness,” he explained.
He highlighted Núñez’s physicality, pace, and ability to draw defenders, which could have transformed Arsenal’s attack.
“A striker who can overpower defenders and pull them out of position creates openings for players like Saka, Martinelli, and Ødegaard. Quick forwards stretch defenses, and that’s something Arsenal currently lacks.”
Although Hamann believes Núñez would have been an excellent addition, he acknowledged that Arsenal can no longer make that move and must rely on their existing squad.
