Darwin Nunez sparks a frenzy among Liverpool fans with his social media activity, just days after the club reportedly receives their “first offer” for him.

Liverpool fans have been reacting on social media after Darwin Nunez’s apparent activity on Instagram.

Liverpool have made an impressive start to the 2024/25 season under new manager Arne Slot, sitting atop both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League tables.

Despite the team’s strong performance, several first-team players have been linked with moves away, especially with the January transfer window now open.

Recently, reports suggested that Liverpool had received an offer from Italian giants AC Milan for striker Nunez. The Uruguayan has faced challenges since his high-profile transfer from Benfica in the summer of 2022.

According to Italian outlet AC Milan TMN, Milan has contacted Liverpool about a loan deal with an obligation to buy. Milan is reportedly willing to pay €5 million upfront for a six-month loan, with the total buy obligation reaching €45 million.

On Thursday, observant fans noticed that Nunez had apparently “liked” an Instagram story showing the 25-year-old in a Milan shirt (which had been digitally edited onto his image).

Reacting on social media, one fan remarked: “Darwin Nunez liking an Instagram story linking him with AC Milan…The transfer window is definitely open.”

Another fan tweeted: “Think we’re making too much of an Instagram like, lads.”

A third added: “Sell him and buy Isak or Gyokeres.”

So far this season, Nunez has scored four goals and provided three assists in 23 appearances across all competitions, placing him behind Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, and Diogo Jota in Slot’s preferred lineup.

Earlier this season, Slot commented on Nunez: “For me, he has impact. He hasn’t scored as many goals as he’d like, but his work-rate makes a difference. He’s part of a team that scores a lot of goals and is winning. As a number nine, of course, you want to score more goals, and that’s something he wants too. But I don’t just judge Mohamed Salah or Darwin based on their goals—it’s also about their work-rate and contribution to the team.”

Liverpool will be back in Premier League action this weekend, hosting Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
