Dan Burn shares the Newcastle dressing room’s response to Alexander Isak’s behavior during the Liverpool transfer drama.

Dan Burn has shared how he and his Newcastle teammates have responded to Alexander Isak’s ongoing transfer saga.

Isak, 25, was omitted from Newcastle’s squad for their recent trip to Aston Villa, with Eddie Howe choosing Anthony Gordon to lead the attack instead.

This decision comes amid continued uncertainty over the Sweden international’s future, as he remains linked with a move to Liverpool. Earlier this month, the Magpies rejected a £110 million plus add-ons offer from the Reds.

Unsurprisingly, Howe was questioned about the situation live on TNT Sports before the 0-0 draw at Villa Park.

Howe stated: “It’s no different than it’s been for several weeks. We’re without Alexander Isak and are adapting while still trying to compete. Today is a tough test for us. Now is not the moment to discuss whether I feel let down. All my focus is on the game. Villa is a difficult place to play, and we need to be mentally prepared, myself included.”

On Friday, Howe confirmed all options remain open regarding Isak’s future and did not rule out the possibility that the striker could stay at Newcastle.

During the match, Newcastle legend Alan Shearer criticized Isak’s conduct, calling it “not the right way” to handle things.

Shearer told BBC Radio 5 Live: “Where’s the loyalty? I understand that clubs and players look out for themselves, but there is a right way to do things. What Alex Isak is doing right now isn’t it.”

So, how does the Newcastle dressing room feel about the ongoing drama?

Ahead of the Villa game, defender Dan Burn shared his perspective.

When asked if the situation had united the squad, he told TNT Sports: “I think it has. There’s a lot of external noise, but we’re a close group and just focus on what we need to do.

“We’ve now been without Alex for around four or five weeks, so he’s not part of things at the moment.

“But we have players who need to step up and score goals, and we’re ready to do that.”
