A Bundesliga head coach has acknowledged that Liverpool target Hugo Ekitike might be heading for a transfer this summer, fueling rumors of a possible move to Anfield.
Eintracht Frankfurt manager Dino Toppmoller commented on the French striker’s future amid growing speculation linking him to Liverpool.
Toppmoller shared his views on Ekitike’s situation.
The 23-year-old forward impressed last season after joining from PSG in the 2023/24 winter transfer window, scoring 22 goals and providing 12 assists in 48 appearances.
In an interview with Sport1, cited by Julius Schamburg on X, the German coach said: “It’s a tough loss. We already lost our key player, Omar Marmoush, in the winter. Ekitike stepped up and improved remarkably. It’s quite possible his time here is over now.”
The same journalist has also reported that a deal worth up to £81 million for Liverpool’s soon-to-be new signing has been agreed.

With Darwin Nunez still linked with moves away, including interest from Napoli and Saudi Arabia, signing another striker for manager Arne Slot’s squad seems more likely.
