Bayer Leverkusen have reportedly informed Liverpool of the specific players they would want in a potential swap deal for their star midfielder, Florian Wirtz.
With the transfer of Dutch defender Jeremie Frimpong to Liverpool already finalized, the Reds have kicked off what is expected to be a highly active summer transfer window.
After clinching the Premier League title in Arne Slot’s debut season as manager, Liverpool are said to be eyeing several top-tier players — including Wirtz, Frimpong’s former teammate at Leverkusen.
While reports have valued the German international at around €150 million (£126 million), it’s now being suggested that Leverkusen may be open to a swap deal rather than a straight cash transfer.
According to recent updates, Leverkusen have now clearly identified two Liverpool players they’d be willing to accept as part of a blockbuster exchange for Wirtz.
As Liverpool look to reshape their squad, a number of current players have been linked with potential exits. Among them is 22-year-old forward Harvey Elliott, who is reportedly one of the names Leverkusen are interested in to replace Wirtz.
Although Elliott impressed under previous manager Jürgen Klopp, he appears to be less favored under Arne Slot, fueling speculation that he could depart this summer. Despite making 28 appearances last season, many came from the bench.
Wolverhampton Wanderers had emerged as a potential destination for Elliott, with reports indicating they were preparing a bid. However, if including Elliott in a deal helps bring Wirtz to Anfield, Liverpool are likely to offer him to Leverkusen instead.
Elliott isn’t the only Liverpool player on Leverkusen’s radar. Reporter Florian Plettenberg also revealed that Jarell Quansah might be another player Leverkusen could request in exchange for Wirtz.
Liverpool are reportedly open to selling the young English defender if the right offer comes along. Quansah has previously attracted interest from Newcastle United, though it remains unclear whether they will pursue him again this summer — potentially paving the way for a move to the Bundesliga.
Quansah featured in 25 matches for Liverpool last season, starting in 13 of those games.
