Arsenal Eyeing Three Major Signings in Summer Transfer Window
Arsenal are reportedly planning to secure three high-profile signings when the summer transfer window opens.
Going into the 2024/25 season, many expected Arsenal to finally clinch the Premier League title after finishing as runners-up in the past two seasons. However, despite Manchester City’s significant dip in form, Arsenal are once again poised to finish second, with Liverpool currently holding a commanding 15-point lead at the top.
The Gunners’ title ambitions have been heavily impacted by injuries to key players, including Martin Ødegaard, Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, and Gabriel Jesus.
Looking ahead, reports claim that Arsenal are aiming to strengthen their squad with three marquee additions.
According to Spanish outlet AS, incoming Sporting Director Andrea Berta is a strong admirer of Bruno Guimarães from Newcastle United and could target the Brazilian as his first major signing. Although Guimarães is believed to be happy at Newcastle, he is said to have an agreement to leave for £60 million if the club fails to secure Champions League qualification.
In addition to Guimarães, Arsenal are also reportedly interested in his Newcastle teammate, striker Alexander Isak, who is said to be at the top of their summer wishlist, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic. Isak has had an impressive season so far, scoring 22 goals and providing 5 assists in 32 appearances. However, prizing him away from Newcastle could require a massive £150 million bid, with other top clubs like Liverpool, Barcelona, and PSG also in the race.
Finally, AS reports that Arsenal are confident of signing Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad for a fee around £50 million. Zubimendi rejected a move to Liverpool last summer but is now expected to make the switch to the Emirates.
