The young defender, who had already been on the receiving end of a contentious red card against Wolves, found himself in trouble again after losing possession to Mohammed Kudus. As Kudus broke forward, Lewis-Skelly’s last-ditch attempt to recover the ball was deemed a denial of a clear goal-scoring opportunity. Following a VAR review, the referee showed him a straight red card, leaving Arsenal a man down once more.
This latest dismissal adds to Arsenal’s growing issues with maintaining a full squad on the pitch, a recurring problem that has cost them valuable points this season. With key fixtures ahead, Mikel Arteta will now have to reshuffle his squad again, as Arsenal look to avoid further disciplinary setbacks in their pursuit of success.
