Arsenal insist Real Madrid include a specific player in any deal for William Saliba — and it could be one of the most shocking swap deals in recent memory.

Arsenal may consider selling William Saliba to Real Madrid—but only if Aurelien Tchouameni is included in the deal, in what could be one of the most surprising swap transfers in recent years.

Saliba is set to enter the final two years of his contract at the end of the season, and while Arsenal are eager to extend his stay, the defender’s standout performances have caught the attention of top clubs, including Real Madrid.

Since returning from loan spells, Saliba has become a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s side, amassing 130 appearances and earning a reputation as one of the Premier League’s top centre-backs.

Real Madrid are reportedly monitoring Saliba closely, and although Arsenal are reluctant to part with one of their most valuable players, they may be willing to negotiate if Tchouameni comes the other way, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.

Arteta is expected to strengthen his midfield this summer, especially with Jorginho nearing the end of his contract and Thomas Partey also facing a potential departure. Tchouameni, who joined Real Madrid from Monaco in 2022 for £68.3 million, is seen as an ideal addition.

While Arteta declined to speak directly about transfer speculation, he reaffirmed Saliba’s happiness at the club, saying:
“He is so happy here and wants to continue with us. I’m confident this is where he wants to be.”
