Arne Slot has declined to celebrate Liverpool’s seven-point lead at the top of the Premier League table. After their 3-1 victory over Leicester City, he told reporters: “If you’ve been in this game long enough, you know that with 20 games still to go, you don’t focus on the standings.”
“There are many challenges still ahead. Just two months ago, we were two points behind Manchester City, and look at their situation now [only one win in the last 12 games].”
“Injuries, suspensions, and some bad luck can affect any team, so it’s too early to celebrate given all the challenges ahead. But, of course, it’s great to be the team in this position.”
Andrew Robertson added, “We have a squad capable of competing for anything.” Meanwhile, Mo Salah urged the team to “stay humble” as they maintain their seven-point advantage at the top.
