Liverpool are in good form right now, and after having the advantage of resting players on Wednesday, Arne Slot was keen to avoid any new injury issues.
When asked about the fitness of Joe Gomez, Diogo Jota, and Darwin Nunez, the head coach shared an update:
“All three are training today, so the question is whether they are ready to travel with us to Bournemouth. That’s something we need to assess today, as we have over 20 players available. We always have a large squad, but we need to make the best decision for both their fitness and our chances of winning tomorrow’s game.”
It’s encouraging to see the trio back in training, and hopefully, they will soon return to the pitch to contribute to upcoming matches.
Gomez, Jota, and Nunez’s return to training is a positive development.
Our No.9 was sidelined due to illness for the final European league match, making his return unsurprising. The English defender had already been spotted in training before the Netherlands fixture, so his comeback was also expected.
However, the biggest takeaway from this press conference is the return of our No.20, which will be widely celebrated.
Despite Liverpool continuing to score freely in his absence, Jota’s comeback adds even more attacking threat to an already potent forward line.
He may not feature in the next match, but knowing his return is imminent is something fans can look forward to.
