Andy Robertson Rumoured to Make Surprise Exit from Liverpool as Fabrizio Romano Reveals Transfer Shocker

Trent Alexander-Arnold may soon find himself facing former Liverpool teammate Andy Robertson in an unexpected on-field reunion, following his recent move to Real Madrid.

Alexander-Arnold was officially introduced as a Real Madrid player this week, becoming their second summer signing and impressing fans by speaking Spanish during his unveiling.

The England star joined just in time to be included in Real’s squad for the Club World Cup in the U.S., with the Spanish giants paying Liverpool £8.4 million to secure his early release for the tournament, which kicks off Saturday night.

Despite backlash from some supporters, Alexander-Arnold received a heartfelt farewell from Liverpool, the club he joined as a child and spent two decades with.

Now, reports suggest that Andy Robertson might also be on the move to Spain.

The Scotland captain—who formed a close friendship with Alexander-Arnold during their time at Anfield—is reportedly admired by Atletico Madrid, with Fabrizio Romano revealing that the La Liga side considers him their top target, even ahead of AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez.

However, Romano noted that negotiations won’t be straightforward, despite Liverpool looking to continue reshaping their squad this summer, including a planned signing of Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez.

Robertson, who joined Liverpool from Hull City for £8 million in 2017, has made 342 appearances and won a host of major trophies, including two Premier League titles, a Champions League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup.

Under Jurgen Klopp, both Robertson and Alexander-Arnold transformed the full-back role with their attacking contributions.

Following Alexander-Arnold’s exit, Robertson paid tribute to his long-time teammate, acknowledging the impact he had on his career.

“He pushed me through the good times, and he’s made a big decision,” Robertson told Sky Sports. “His legacy at Liverpool is clear—the trophies, the historic moments.

“It’s an emotional and difficult choice. It’s tough to see a friend booed, but fans react how they want. All I can say is I’m proud of him—for his achievements, for who he is. I’ll miss him deeply, both as a player and as one of my best friends in football.”
