Earlier in the transfer window, Liverpool had a bid rejected but could now be preparing a stronger offer.

The recent signing of Nick Woltemade from Bundesliga club Stuttgart has raised speculation that Isak’s departure might be on the cards. With this new development, a significant update on Isak’s transfer emerged just before Newcastle’s Premier League match against Leeds on Saturday evening.

Journalist Jan Aage Fjortoft took to social media, stating that Isak’s move to Liverpool is essentially finalized and will likely happen soon. He wrote on X: “Regarding Alexander Isak. Understand the deal is done. Newcastle is away at Leeds tonight, so no movement expected before then. Fee will be £130m. Isak to Liverpool likely to happen very soon.”

When asked about the transfer saga earlier this week, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said, “This situation has been out of my hands for a while now. It would be unproductive for me to invest more time into it when I have 25-30 players who need my full attention. The team needs me to focus on results, and that’s where my energy is directed.”

Howe added, “Others are handling this situation, and my job is to concentrate on the players who are on the pitch, working to influence results. Once the season starts, it’s a whole new environment, and it’s been difficult with all the distractions this summer, but I think the players have handled it well.”
