Alexander Isak’s agent has commented on the striker’s potential exit from Newcastle United amid rumours of a move to Anfield.

On Monday, Liverpool played their final pre-season friendlies against Spanish side Athletic Club, holding back-to-back matches at home. Several key players and new signings featured in these games, with Liverpool winning both encounters.

While much of the attention was on the players’ performances ahead of the FA Community Shield final against Crystal Palace this weekend, some fans were thrilled by reports that Isak’s agent was present at the matches.

Following these reports, comments from Newcastle’s star striker’s agent about his client’s potential summer transfer have resurfaced online.

Though it remains unconfirmed whether Isak’s agent, Gonzalo Gaitan, attended the friendlies against Athletic Club, this comes amid multiple reports suggesting the striker’s transfer to Liverpool is progressing.

Both Liverpool and Isak see the move as a dream transfer, which would see Newcastle receive a British record fee estimated at a minimum of £130 million.

The Swedish forward has made it clear to Newcastle that he wants to leave and even withdrew from the club’s pre-season tour in Asia this summer.

Considering Gaitan’s earlier comments this summer, it’s unsurprising that Isak is eager to join the Premier League champions as soon as possible.

Before Liverpool emerged as frontrunners to sign Isak, several clubs worldwide expressed interest, including Arsenal and teams from the Saudi Pro League.

Speaking to Saudi Arabian newspaper Arriyadiyah, Gaitan said: “We are indeed studying and analysing all options, and we may be close to finalising the next step for the player,” without revealing whether Isak will stay at Newcastle or move on.

Before Liverpool can finalize a deal for Isak, Newcastle need to secure a replacement, with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko their preferred target.

After their initial bid was rejected, Newcastle submitted an improved offer for the Slovenian striker on Monday, reportedly worth £69.7 million (€80 million) plus add-ons.
