Liverpool have re-entered the competition to sign Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, with a new report detailing the amount they’re willing to spend.
Just weeks after clinching the 2024/25 Premier League title, the Reds are making swift moves in the transfer market. They’ve already secured right-back Jeremie Frimpong as a potential successor to Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Soon after Frimpong’s arrival, reports surfaced that Liverpool had reached a record-breaking deal for Florian Wirtz, formerly of Bayer Leverkusen, and are also expected to sign Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.
However, their transfer activity doesn’t stop there. Fresh reports now indicate that Liverpool are actively pursuing Isak, one of their top targets, amid interest from several European giants.
Following a standout campaign with Newcastle — where he tallied 26 goals and 6 assists in 42 appearances — Isak has drawn attention from elite clubs like Arsenal and Barcelona. Yet, according to GiveMeSport, Liverpool are currently leading the race and are prepared to break the British transfer record once again to land the Swedish striker.
The report claims Liverpool consider Isak their ideal signing and are ready to go all in to secure him.
Despite Newcastle qualifying for next season’s Champions League and reportedly valuing Isak at over £150 million, Liverpool are not deterred and could consider a mega offer if the deal makes financial sense.
To fund the move, Liverpool are hoping to offload Darwin Nunez, who’s been linked with Napoli, Atletico Madrid, and clubs in Saudi Arabia. Nunez is one of several attacking players who may leave, along with Harvey Elliott, Luis Diaz, and Diogo Jota.
If any of those players depart, Liverpool plan to reinvest the proceeds into signing Isak. If a deal for him proves unfeasible, they’ll turn their attention to other striker targets such as Joao Pedro, Hugo Ekitike, or Julian Alvarez.
