Alan Shearer revealed his favorite Premier League stadium to visit, saying it stood out because you received “more respect” there than at any other ground.

The Premier League’s all-time top scorer, Alan Shearer, singled out a legendary stadium as his favorite to visit during his playing days.

The Newcastle United icon netted a record 260 Premier League goals over 441 matches for Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle. He played in the top flight from 1992 to 2006, scoring 112 goals for Blackburn and 148 for his hometown club, Newcastle United.

Shearer’s only league title came in the 1994-95 season with Blackburn Rovers, and the trophy was lifted at a stadium deeply meaningful to their manager, Kenny Dalglish—a venue rich in history and memorable league triumphs.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, the former England captain revealed that Anfield, home of Liverpool, was his favorite stadium to play at as a visiting player.

“I always used to love going to Anfield,” Shearer said. “I loved the ground, the atmosphere. Maybe I’m wrong, but I always felt players got a bit more respect there. If you were even half decent, Anfield gave you that recognition more than most places. They’re a fantastic club, and even though wins were rare there, I always enjoyed the experience because the atmosphere was special.”

Shearer has long admired the electric energy of Anfield, especially during big European nights—something Liverpool fans will be looking forward to under new manager Arne Slot, as the team edges closer to a Premier League title in his debut season following Jurgen Klopp’s departure.

Liverpool, who have one Premier League title in the modern era, are on course to claim their 20th overall. With Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk recently committing their futures to the club, both will be key in Liverpool’s title defense and Champions League campaign next season.

Since hanging up his boots, Shearer briefly managed Newcastle as an interim and has since become one of the most respected football analysts in England.
