Liverpool may have been presented with a clear opportunity to move for a Premier League forward who previously impressed new head coach Arne Slot.
According to The Guardian, West Ham could be forced to sell Mohammed Kudus due to pressing concerns over profitability and sustainability regulations (PSR), with a fee of around £60 million potentially enough to seal a deal. Tottenham are reportedly monitoring the situation closely, hoping to benefit from the Hammers’ financial predicament.
While Liverpool have been loosely linked with Kudus in recent months, there are currently no concrete talks. However, the door seems open should the Reds decide to act on their interest.
Kudus Favors Liverpool Over London Rivals
It appears the Ghanaian attacker would prefer a move to Liverpool over other interested clubs in the capital, even if it means earning less.
On Monday, LFC Transfer Room’s editor-in-chief Matt Thielen revealed on X that Kudus’ agent has informed Liverpool the player would be willing to accept a lower salary if they pursued a transfer, despite ongoing interest from both Tottenham and Chelsea.
Should Liverpool Make Their Move?
Kudus, who Slot described as “incredible” following West Ham’s visit to Anfield in April, could be an intriguing option for the Reds. At 24, he’s entering his peak years and already has Premier League experience. His versatility across the front line would add valuable depth, particularly if Liverpool were to lose attacking players like Darwin Núñez or Federico Chiesa this summer.
He could also serve as a reliable stand-in for Mohamed Salah during the Africa Cup of Nations period, although Ghana won’t be taking part in the upcoming tournament.
That said, expectations should be tempered. Kudus registered just five goals and four assists across 35 appearances last season—a notable drop from his previous campaign. A £60m price tag would require him to deliver more if he were to don the red shirt.
Right now, Liverpool don’t appear desperate to sign the West Ham star, but that could change if key attackers depart in the coming weeks. Should that happen, FSG might be tempted to capitalize on Kudus’ apparent preference for a move to Anfield. Time will tell how things unfold.
