Liverpool have finalized the signing of promising Hungarian goalkeeper Armin Pecsi, with the deal confirmed on Saturday afternoon by prominent transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
As supporters remain focused on potential marquee signings like Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez, Romano reassured fans that discussions regarding those targets are still active, with sporting director Richard Hughes continuing to oversee the negotiations.
Meanwhile, the club has taken a step toward future planning by securing a talented young shot-stopper.
Romano announced on X (formerly Twitter): “Hungarian goalkeeper Armin Pecsi, born in 2005, has signed his contract with Liverpool. Deal done and confirmed.”
Pecsi’s arrival comes during a period of transition in Liverpool’s goalkeeping ranks. The Reds recently struck a deal with Valencia for Giorgi Mamardashvili, who is set to officially join on July 1. The Georgian international is expected to become the second-choice goalkeeper behind Alisson Becker, following Caoimhin Kelleher’s £18 million transfer to Brentford.
Liverpool have also renewed contracts for Harvey Davies and Vitezslav Jaros, though one or both may head out on loan next season for more game time.
At just 20 years old, Pecsi has already shown maturity and skill at the senior level, having played a crucial role in Puskás Akadémia’s runner-up finish in Hungary’s top league. That performance earned the club a spot in next season’s UEFA Conference League qualifiers. According to Hungarian football analyst Bence Bocsak, Pecsi is widely considered among the top young goalkeeping talents in Europe.
Although he’s unlikely to feature in the senior squad right away, Liverpool view Pecsi as a long-term project — and potentially a future first-choice goalkeeper.
