Liverpool have officially confirmed the acquisition of promising Hungarian goalkeeper Armin Pecsi.
The 20-year-old has now joined the Reds and was pictured signing his contract in an image shared on the club’s official website.
Though still early in his career, Pecsi has gained valuable experience with first-team action at his previous club, Puskás Akadémia. The club also highlighted that he is in contention for the 2025 Golden Boy award, signaling his strong potential—even if he may not feature regularly in Liverpool’s first team for now.
Liverpool’s Goalkeeper Situation This Summer
It’s already been a busy transfer window for Liverpool in terms of goalkeepers. Pecsi’s arrival follows the departure of Caoimhin Kelleher, who made a move to Brentford.
Attention also turns to Alisson Becker’s position as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper, especially with Giorgi Mamardashvili set to complete his long-planned transfer from Valencia. While the agreement was made last summer, Mamardashvili spent an additional season in Spain and is now expected to arrive for the 2025/26 campaign.
Given Mamardashvili’s stature as a top-tier talent, it’s uncertain whether he would be satisfied with a backup role, raising questions about how this might affect Alisson’s status. So far, there’s no indication that Alisson will leave the club, suggesting he may retain his spot for at least one more season. Mamardashvili, in the meantime, could potentially be loaned out.
Pecsi, for now, appears to be a solid backup option with the potential to develop into a future first-choice goalkeeper at Anfield.
