Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres has given a major hint about his preferred next destination as speculation intensifies over a potential Premier League move this summer. The Swedish international, who has enjoyed a prolific season in Portugal, is attracting strong interest from Arsenal, Manchester United, and Liverpool, but his latest comments suggest he may already have a favourite.
Gyökeres, who netted 36 goals in all competitions for Sporting this past season, has been one of Europe’s standout forwards, and top clubs are vying for his signature. However, during a recent media appearance in Sweden while on international duty, the 26-year-old hinted that he is particularly keen on joining a club with a defined playing style and long-term project — something that many believe points to Arsenal.
“I want to go somewhere where I can continue to grow, where the system suits my game, and where there’s a clear direction,” Gyökeres said. “Of course, it’s flattering to be linked with big clubs, but for me, the football and the project matter more than just the badge.”
Sources close to the player have indicated that he is intrigued by Mikel Arteta’s tactical setup and sees Arsenal as an ideal environment to continue developing while competing at the highest level. The Gunners have been monitoring Gyökeres for several months, and with Gabriel Jesus struggling for form, the club is believed to be seriously considering triggering his release clause, reported to be around €100 million.
