Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has named the Premier League player who irritates him the most.
Despite only being at Anfield for two seasons, Mac Allister has become a crucial figure in Liverpool’s lineup, featuring in 49 matches across all competitions this campaign.
Under new manager Arne Slot, the Argentine has continued to shine and played a significant role in helping Liverpool secure the Premier League title this season.
Since his move from Brighton in the summer of 2023, Mac Allister has expressed a deep appreciation for competing at the highest level of English football.
However, during a recent interview, he confessed that one opponent in particular has consistently gotten under his skin during his time at Liverpool.
As reported by The Mirror, Mac Allister identified Manchester City’s Jack Grealish as the Premier League’s top provocateur, admitting that he finds pleasure in tackling him.
“You just want to kick him,” Mac Allister said. “But even when you do, he gets back up straight away. And somehow, that makes you feel like you’re winning.”
The pair have gone head-to-head four times—once while Grealish was still at Aston Villa and three times after he joined Manchester City. Mac Allister has experienced mixed results in those encounters, with one win, one draw, and two defeats as a Liverpool player.
His choice of Grealish as the most aggravating player likely won’t surprise many, given the City winger’s reputation for theatricality and gamesmanship on the pitch. Fans and commentators have often criticized him for going down too easily.
One notable instance came in 2023, when Manchester United icon Roy Keane likened Grealish’s penalty-winning actions to those of Olympic diver Tom Daley during a match against his former club, Aston Villa.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Keane remarked: “We’re saying Jack is more like Tom Daley, but I do think it’s a penalty. It’s clever from Jack—he gets his body across, and as Gary [Neville] said during commentary, he knows exactly what he’s doing.”
